Chaotic CNN Panel Falls Apart As Comedian Calls ‘Bullsh*t’ On Biden Afghanistan Criticism: ‘Donald Trump Hates Veterans!’
Comedian Pete Dominick and Republican strategist Scott Jennings locked horns on CNN Thursday over the Biden administration’s handling of the Abbey Gate incident in Afghanistan in a post-election debate on the consequences of the U.S. exit strategy.
The clash, laced with insults and raw frustration, highlighted the sharp political divide over a decision that has sparked widespread critique and finger-pointing.
The segment kicked off with host Abby Phillip running a clip of Rep. Seth Moulton (D-MA), a veteran, criticizing the Biden administration’s approach to the Afghanistan withdrawal, describing it as “haphazard” and “out of touch with America.” Moulton lambasted the chaotic pullout, noting that it “cost American lives” and urged Democrats to “be willing to fix it.”
Reacting to the clip, Dominick condemned the sudden focus on veterans’ issues only during times of controversy, arguing President Joe Biden had shown courage where past presidents, including President Barack Obama, had not.
Dominick began: “I was hosting this event tonight for Iraq and Afghanistan in America, I love how people just tuned into caring about veterans during the pullout, like that was the worst…”
“I just have to say that Seth Moulton is a veteran,” interrupted Phillip.
He continued: “I understand. The idea that Joe Biden had the courage to do what no other president including Barack Obama, who surged in Afghanistan, 13 or 16 people died in that bombing, thousands of other veterans died as a result of Republican policies, these were Republican policies these wars. A lot of people feel that way about that horrible day in Afghanistan
“It did create though… there was a drop in support,” the host pressed as Dominick continued to speak.
Jennings interjected: “If you look at the arc of the Biden presidency, he was in really good shape until August of 2021 when Afghanistan happened, he went under 40, [Vice President Kamala Harris] went under 40, and they really lived there until the end of the presidency.”
“Why?” Dominick challenged.
Jenning replied: “Because he ran in totals that the adults were back in charge and that was the opposite.”
“Yeah they were because [President-elect] Donald Trump is a child,” Dominick shot back.
Jennings continued: “And you know what else? They wouldn’t give these 13 servicemembers families the time of day.”
The comedian hit back: “Bullshit dude! Bullshit! I’m sorry but Donald Trump hates veterans, he called them suckers and losers. He did, he absolutely despises… he has his entire life.”
“I know you’re super emotional,” Jennings said.
“Of course I am,” the comedian said.
Jennings continued: “I’m telling you the political rally is that when they made that decision…”
“It doesn’t matter,” the comedian interrupted. “Donald Trump hates veterans.”
“You are still campaigning,” Jennings said before the host called for Jennings to be allowed to speak.
Jenning said: “The political reality is when they made that decision and everyone realized, oh my gosh these aren’t the competent adults that we were promised and then when you pile on top of that the decisions that made inflation worse, it was a compounding interest of political crap over time that they could never get out of it. That is how she lost the race.”
Co-panelist CNN analyst Coleman Hughes added that there was bipartisan consensus for withdrawal but that people were frustrated with “the way it was done.” That people voted for Biden because they believed that he was “normal and competent.”
Dominick interrupted again: “We did.”
“Afghanistan doesn’t signal that,” Hughes snapped back.
The comedian continued: “The wars in Afghanistan, the war in Iraq, the Republican policies that led to those wars, the idea that Joe Biden made the final difficult decision in the administration you guys live on the tippy top of bullshit mountain if you actually think that so many people think that the pullout of Afghanistan was the pivot point, are you kidding me?”
“I can read a chart in a poll, I guess you can’t,” Jennings sniped.
Dominick hit back: “Your petty insults are so weak, dude, I don’t even understand if you hear yourself talking. You can laugh all you want but like I can’t read a chart – it’s so uninteresting and unconvincing.”
Jennings laughed to which Dominick replied: “That is so condescending.”
