DAR ES SALAAM: Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) emerged as the leading alcoholic drinks manufacturer at the prestigious President’s Manufacturer of the Year Awards (PMAYA), held in Dar es Salaam today.

The PMAYA awards, one of the highest honours for manufacturers in Tanzania, are designed to recognize and encourage excellence among producers across various sectors.
Expressing appreciation, SBL’s Managing Director, Obinna Anyalebechi commended the commitment of the entire team and underscored the company’s mission to continue enhancing the quality of its products while contributing to Tanzania’s economic growth.

He said, ‘We remain committed to creating that uphold standards of excellence and sustainability to meet and exceed industry standards to set the company apart, positioning it as a key contributor to the Tanzanian manufacturing landscape’.

At the well-attended event, Vice President Dr Philip Mpango represented President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan, as the guest of honour.

Dr Mpango stated that the government has strengthened road and port infrastructure to facilitate the export and import of goods, aiming to support the
continued success of the industrial sector.

He also urged manufacturers to intensify their production efforts and focus on increasing the output of intermediate goods, to reduce
reliance on imported products.

SBL has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Tanzania’s economy by deepening its investments, particularly in the agricultural sector.

Currently, over 75 percent of raw materials used in SBL’s beer production are sourced locally, directly benefiting Tanzanian farmers and
strengthening the country’s agricultural supply chain.

By prioritizing local sourcing, SBL aims not only to reduce import dependence but also to empower rural communities, create jobs, and foster sustainable farming practices.

This ongoing investment aligns with SBL’s broader mission of supporting local industries, promoting economic growth, and contributing to Tanzania’s self-sufficiency in key resources for manufacturing.
