Huge dance act reunites for the first time in over ten years for new single with controversial singer
DANCE music superstars Major Lazer have reunited with their original line up for the first time in 13 years.
Original duo Diplo and Switch have reunited for a new version of their track ‘Where’s The Daddy?’ which also features M.I.A.
A new video was released from the Major Lazer vault on Friday, directed by Renèe George which reunites the trio as they take a Cybertruck joyride through Malibu.
This marks Switch’s first appearance with Major Lazer since he left the group in 2011.
Where’s The Daddy was a seminal track released in 2009 by Diplo that saw the birth of Major Lazer.
Now M.I.A. known as Mathangi Maya Arulpragasam, a Sri Lankan artist known for her diverse music and political messages, has breathed new life into it.
Diplo describes Major Lazer’s origins as “a jumbled-up mess that reads more like a villain story.”
The DJ adds: “It’s cool to put out ‘Where’s The Daddy?’ now because M.I.A. was the third daddy of Major Lazer.”

Switch says: “This year, 15 years later, we found a locked safe of all the hard drives from that period – it was like opening a musical treasure trove.
“There’s a lot of unreleased gems we found in there, Where’s The Daddy? being one – we’re well chuffed.”
Diplo and Switch have contributed to M.I.A.’s sound – as both individual producers and frequent collaborators.
The pair produced her signature single, 2007 Paper Planes and credit her with the birth of Major Lazer, as the project grew out of a surplus of beats the producers concocted for her in the late 2000s.
Where’s the Daddy? is one of several previously unreleased tracks from the 15th-anniversary edition digital reissue of Major Lazer’s seminal 2009 debut album, Guns Don’t Kill People…Lazers Do, which is slated for release on November 15.
Fans can also get their hands on the original version of the album, which will be repressed on vinyl to celebrate the 15th anniversary.
