Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka on Thursday visited the family of the late Content Creator and influencer Tabitha Gatwiri.

He was accompanied by former Kiambu County Governor Ferdinand Waititu and Kitui County Senator Enock Wambua.

They met with Gatwiri’s father Robert Kirimi and her brother Brian.

“I met with the family of Tabitha Gatwiri earlier today in Nairobi to convey my profound sympathy following her untimely passing last week,” Kalonzo said.

He eulogised Gatwiri as an extremely gifted individual, adding that the global outpouring of sorrow and loss demonstrated how profoundly her talents impacted a great number of people.

Noting that the creative industry has lost a vital content producer, Kalonzo acknowledged Alex Mathenge aka “Security Engineer”, MCA Tricky, Naomi Kuria, and Shipira for standing with the family at this most difficult moment.

“While we grieve Gatwiri, remember how much joy she provided to our lives. May the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus,” he said.

Kalonzo is among the fans and supporters of the late Comedian.

On November 2, he penned a heartfelt tribute for the deceased, recalling how he met Gatwiri a few years ago, describing her as a vibrant and knowledgeable person.

“My heart hurts as I pen this Condolence Message to the family of Tabitha Gatwiri,” Kalonzo said.

“She was a young woman determined to change the world for the better with her ideas. Our discussions on the State of the Nation and what her generation could achieve, given the opportunity, were mind-provoking.”

Kalonzo recalled that their last discussion centred on adding her diversity to his communications team.

Gatwiri, 29, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2024.

An Autopsy done at  Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital mortuary established that she died of suffocation,

“The late Gatwiri passed on from positional asphyxia with brain oedema,” the statement read.

Positional asphyxia is a type of suffocation that occurs when a person’s position hinders them from breathing adequately.

Positional asphyxia, also known as jack-knife position, can occur when someone is in an abnormal position for too long.

This can obstruct the airway, prevent the body from getting enough oxygen, and lead to unconsciousness, suffocation, or death. It occurs when someone’s body position prevents them from breathing properly, leading to brain oedema and death.
