Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief has confirmed there are plans for the Young Avengers to reunite in 2025. The new team’s members will likely hint at the Young Avengers’ Marvel Cinematic Universe debut.
ComicBook.com reports that C.B. Cebulksi, Editor-in-Chief of Marvel Comics confirmed that the Young Avengers team will return to the Marvel Universe next year while speaking at Tokyo’s Osaka Comic Con. “I can break some special news here. The Young Avengers will be reuniting in 2025 in Marvel Comics,” Cebulski said. “There have been two Young Avengers teams, but now we’re deciding which characters, for natural story reasons, are going to join the new Young Avengers team. Kate-Hawkeye, Patriot, Hulkling, Wiccan…who is going to join? You’ll see in 2025!”

The MCU has been teasing the Young Avengers characters for a while now, with different members of the team playing supporting roles in other Marvel TV shows and movies. Kate Bishop was featured in the Disney+ series Hawkeye, America Chavez starred in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and most recently Wiccan debuted his comic book powers in Agatha All Along. It seems that the stars may finally be aligning for the Young Avengers team to unite as the MCU moves forward and introduces a new generation of heroes.
Other members of the comics’ Young Avengers teams that have appeared already in the Marvel Cinematic Universe include Speed in WandaVision, Patriot in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Ironheart in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Ms. Marvel in The Marvels. A scene in The Marvels may have even hinted at the Young Avengers’ MCU debut, with Kamala meeting with Kate Bishop and telling her she wants to put together a team and mentioning Ant-Man’s daughter, Cassie Lang.
The Young Avengers team made its debut in 2005, featuring a number of adolescent characters with connections to established members of Marvel’s Avengers team. The original Young Avengers book was created by Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung and followed the events of 2004’s Avengers Disassembled storyline which saw Vision planning to reform the Avengers. The team members went on to be featured in other Marvel crossover stories, including Civil War and The Children’s Crusade.

In 2013, the series was relaunched with Kieron Gillen and Jamie McKelvie at the helm as part of the Marvel NOW! rebrand. The second Young Avengers series introduced new team members into the mix with some of the series’ founding members, with Kid Loki, Noh-Varr and America Chavez and others joining the roster. Both series have been generally well-received by critics, with the original Young Avengers series winning the 2006 Harvey Award for Best New Series. The title also won the GLAAD Media Awards for Outstanding Comic Book in both 2006 and 2014.
More details about the return of Marvel’s Young Avengers characters are expected to be revealed in the months to come.
