Angel Adoree, known from the hit TV series ‘Escape to the Chateau’, was “sobbing” as she looked back on a poignant moment during her trip to the UK. Angel, aged 46, alongside her husband Dick Strawbridge, rose to fame with the show that aired from 2016 to 2022, capturing their life as they refurbished a 19th-century château in France, reports the Express.

Although they now reside in France and the Channel 4 series has concluded, their ties to the UK remain strong, with frequent visits and currently a tour underway. On a recent instalment of their podcast, ‘Dick and Angel’s Chat… Eau’, the couple reflected on the emotional family reunion experienced upon their return.

Dick, who is 65, reminisced about the quiet interval they had this time, despite being in their hometown, an unusual occurrence given their busy schedules: “It was interesting because having had everybody in the dressing room beforehand, we have a quiet sort of interval didn’t we? “.

Angel agreed, noting the rarity of such peaceful moments: “Yeah we did, and that’s a first. Considering we were in the hometown, it was unheard of.”

Dick elaborated on the dynamics of hosting family backstage and how pivotal it was to see his mother in the crowd: “But I think the thing was to get everyone backstage, by the time they would have been there for halftime, they would have been straight back again.”

He continued fondly, “It was interesting. So, mum was there and you know what, I just loved that I could see her. I could see her smiling, surrounded by people she knew.”

To which Angel responded emotionally, highlighting the joyful moment shared between Dick and his mother: “Yeah, your mum had that sparkle in her eyes and you and your mum having a little drink together – oh, it made me cry.”

She continued: “Literally, I was sobbing and I had all the makeup on. We had some lovely photographs together, lovely memories. Arthur was busy just getting everyone a drink. It was one of the memories that I just think will be one of the stand-out memories.”

This follows the couple’s recent announcement about their great niece Heidi, with them expressing how “totally invested” they are in her. “She’s a beautiful little baby girl,” Dick enthused. “If you’ve listened to the other podcasts, we did the baby shower for them.”

Adoree chimed in: “We’ve been really invested and probably no one more so than our little Dorothy! ” Dick added: “Dorothy has been excited, I think we couldn’t have stayed any longer – we’d need to be back in the car with suitcases.”

He further mentioned: “Dorothy and Sarah speak quite a lot on the phone, they have little phone calls. So Dorothy’s seen Heidi most days.”
