Watch: Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff and others reveal what gives them ‘the ick’ amid WTA Finals
The top women’s tennis players of the world answered what are their biggest icks. They are in Riyadh for the WTA Finals and in the midst of their campaigns, they gave some interesting answers when asked about things or situations they don’t like.
For Barbora Krejcikova, her biggest ick was ‘petting a snake‘, while for Jessica Pegula, she hates it when ‘people leave their chairs out at tables…chairs like in the middle of the room‘. Qinwen Zheng‘s ick is when someone is ‘not loyal to their words‘. For Coco Gauff, it’s the handshake.
This might sound bad but I don’t really like to shake people’s hands. I’m not a germophobe but you just never know where someone’s hands has been. So I usually like…put on sanitizer right after…if it’s like right after somebody I don’t know. People talking with their food in their mouth, I really…I don’t like…I don’t like that.
Coco Gauff said
Gauff also has a tennis ick. She doesn’t like it when players grunt while hitting the ball. Aryna Sabalenka has a lot of ick but she revealed just one.
For me, is when people are chewing food loudly or when they are making…no, okay, I’m sorry, I’ll stop right here because there’s a lot of things.

It was then Iga Swiatek‘s turn to answer. Being an introvert, she hates being uncomfortable in social situations.
Well, I wasn’t ready for…for that question. But, I would say…I don’t know. Probably when I’m going to…watch me answering that question. This is going to make me ick. Yeah. Being uncomfortable in social situations. Yeah, definitely.

Here’s how Iga Swiatek, Aryna Sabalenka, Coco Gauff, and others performed at WTA Finals
Aryna Sabalenka became the first player to qualify for the semifinals after her back-to-back wins over Qinwen Zheng and Jasmine Paolini. But she lost to Elena Rybakina, which, however, didn’t affect her. She will be playing in the last four at WTA Finals for the third consecutive time when she will lock horns with Coco Gauff.
Zheng also secured a semifinal berth, though for the first time in her career. She lost to Sabalenka but clinched victory in the next two matches she played against Rybakina and Paolini. She will be up against Barbora Krejcikova in the first semifinal, scheduled to take place on November 8.
Krejcikova on the other hand, lost her first match to Iga Swiatek but made an impressive comeback in the next match, before beating Gauff to seal a semifinal spot. The reigning Wimbledon champion’s win meant Swiatek’s elimination.
The Pole, after beating Krejcikova, lost to Gauff. Her 6-1, 6-0 win over Daria Kasatkina did not help her remain in the tournament. 20-year-old Gauff however, will be playing her second back-to-back semifinal at WTA Finals.
