Ford has collaborated with legendary truck customizer, Solomon Lunger, to pay tribute to one of its most iconic classic pickup trucks. The Ford F-100 was part of Ford’s F-Series lineup, which debuted in 1948, and since then, it’s gone on to become one of the best-selling vehicles in the world. Ford is now bringing back the legendary F-100, and if you’re looking for the ultimate blend of vintage charm with high octane performance, this custom-built 1969 Ford F-100 named “Clyde” might just be the coolest pickup truck restomod to make an appearance at SEMA.

A Powerhouse Under The Hood

This is a one-of-a-kind build from Ford, and it’s been built in collaboration between Ford Performance Parts and Accessories and renowned truck customizer Solomon Lunger. They have transformed this classic 1969 Ford F-100 into a jaw-dropping tribute to Ford’s legendary trucks, but with a massive new powertrain. At the heart of the “Clyde” F-100 is a beastly 5.2-liter V8 Raptor R Crate Engine. This is one of Ford’s high-performance engines, and to really get people excited, they also decided to stick a massive 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger onto it. With this setup, the custom F-100 pickup truck’s projected power output is said to be over 900 hp and with more than 700 lb-ft of torque.

“Clyde” The Glide: A Smooth Design

The F-100 “Clyde” needs a strong chassis to contain all that power, and that’s why it sits on a Porterbuilt Stage 2 coilover chassis by Fat Fender Garage. This chassis setup provides a mix of stability and adaptability, allowing the truck to glide smoothly while maintaining the strong and aggressive road presence of a true-performance pickup.

The bodywork on Clyde is breathtaking. The exposed carbon fiber panels give it a high-end look with a sleek, modern edge, contrasting beautifully against the classic lines of the ’69 F-100. The custom-forged wheels are also pretty sweet. On the inside, this pickup is outfitted with luxury leather, and every stitch and surface of the interior has been carefully crafted to honor the truck’s heritage while providing a modern driving experience.

This unique F-100 built by Ford is a powerful nod to Ford’s long-standing legacy of building rugged, powerful trucks. Ford Performance and Solomon Lunger have created a showstopper and is sure to turn heads wherever it goes.

Along with this custom F-100, Ford is also showcasing four new concept and project vehicles based on the Bronco and F-150, for its recently announced Ford Custom Garage program. All of these vehicles will be on display at SEMA.
