Mujahid M. Sulaiman, popularly known as Mujahid M. Soja, is a director in Kannywood. In this interview with IBRAHIM HAMISU in Kano, he shares his history, experience and many more in the industry.
Background/education
My name is Mujahid M. Sulaiman, but I am better known as Mujahid M. Soja in the Kannywood industry. I was born in the Agadasawa area of Kano, but I grew up in the Dorayi area, where I did my primary and secondary schooling before gaining admission into Kano State Polytechnic to study computer science.
How did you find yourself in Kannywood?
I found myself in the Kannywood industry because of my determination to see movies as my career. It is a dream that I always had in my mind. I know that I wanted to become a comedian. We used to take it in the neighborhood and I felt that I should cross over to the Kannywood film industry because of the way people live in it.

I ventured into Kannywood in 2016

Rayuwar mmasoya, Lover’s Life, which is the first YouTube series made in Kannywood (2017)
What kind of achievements have you recorded so far?
My biggest success is the happiness my parents give me every time they remember that I am their son and a director in Kannywood.
What have been the challenges?
There are so many of them that I can not count and the chances are that if you miss the challenges in life, you will definitely miss the success.
Who is your mentor in Kannywood?
My mentor is definitely Hassan Giggs
Some people in Kannywood are of the opinion that women should be patient and get married or study instead of coming to do movies; what is your opinion on that?
No one will say that he does not want to live the Sunnah of the Messenger of God (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). Therefore, I also advise women who aspire to enter Kannywood to ask men to get married if the time for marriage is not yet, and God-willing, there is food for you in the industry. I advise you to come in with a pure heart.
What is your dream in the future?
My wish is to end the world with my parents safely, and when I die, I will meet the Messenger of God; may God bless him and grant him peace.
