Autumn’s Lullaby

Free Verse Poem

Autumn's Lullaby
Ernest Brillo

Autumn sun sinks its tired head,

Nightly creepy crawlers sing their lullaby,

Barn Owls add soft hoots to the nightly song.

Walking my leaf-covered lawn,

Gazing up at the pink cotton candy clouds

spread like a baby’s blanket across the sky.

Crisp winds washes my face,

brings cents of dried moss, decaying leaves and wet grass.

Going to bed with Autumn’s perfume,

a comfortable embrace.
