Arsenal have been lacking firepower in recent weeks, and this comes after a summer transfer window in which they did not spend money on an attacking player.

Raheem Sterling was the only attacking signing, with the winger arriving on loan from Chelsea on deadline day, and he is already out of favour as he was an unused substitute in the last two games.

Arsenal did not sign a striker despite links with several forwards including Viktor Gyokeres, with the Sweden star continuing to thrive at Sporting Lisbon.

One reported target who did move was Victor Osimhen, who made a shock loan transfer to Galatasaray from Napoli, but the Nigerian is showing why Mikel Arteta should have signed him.

Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan after a fallout with Napoli, with potential moves to Arsenal and elsewhere falling through as a result of his asking price and wages.

However, Osimhen’s quality cannot be denied, and he showed this against English opposition in the Europa League, netting a stunning brace against Tottenham Hotspur in a 3-2 win in Istanbul.

Arsenal fans loved what they saw, but they cannot believe that Arteta did not push for Osimhen in the summer given his sheer quality in attacking areas.

“Cant believe top teams didn’t sign this guy … Arteta kept Jesus Trossard Kai Havertz instead of signing this monster. Madness,” one fan posted on X.

“Osimhen should’ve come to Arsenal. They got him on loan lol,” another pointed out.

“I still don’t understand how Arsenal, who were clearly CF-needy in the summer, let Osimhen end up on loan to Galatasaray after the Sesko approach failed,” another fumed.

“Osimhen at Arsenal would be illegal lol, his aerial presence is next to none,” a fan claimed.

“When Osimhen was being frozen out of Naples, he was there for the taking, but we passed on. His physicality, aerial prowess and a nitch for goals would’ve been very useful to us now. He would’ve banged in goals for this Arsenal side,” a fan highlighted.

Victor Osimhen would have been excellent for Arsenal

A lot of other factors stopped Arsenal from signing Osimhen in the summer, but there is every chance he is available next year.

Finances aside, Osimhen would be an excellent addition to Arsenal’s attack, which currently lacks speed and a lot of goal threat.

Osimhen’s brace against Spurs did see him miss two big chances, but his goals were superbly taken, and his deadly finishing ability would have been useful for Arsenal.

His speed and aerial presence allows Osimhen to fashion chances for himself, whilst his hold-up ability could make him a perfect fit upfront.

Arsenal put in a record number of crosses in their defeat to Inter Milan, and Osimhen could have been the perfect striker to get on the end of those, and this may have been a huge missed opportunity for Arteta.
