Incredibly posh sleeper trains to pass through Plymouth

It is the sort of quality you would only expect at the best hotels

Fine dining experiences will be designed by renowned Chef Simon Rogan, celebrated for his innovative approach and the exceptional quality across his restaurants.

The unveiling of the most opulent sleeper train yet has taken place, and it’s set to journey through Plymouth. Think private cabins, an onboard spa, and exquisite fine dining that rivals the finest hotels.

Belmond has introduced the Britannic Explorer, marking the first luxury sleeper train in England and Wales. Set to make its debut in July 2025, The Britannic Explorer will embark from London, offering three-night journeys with a selection of three captivating routes through the stunning natural landscapes of Cornwall, The Lake District, and Wales.

The schedules have been arranged to allow travellers to merge two regional journeys into one trip: The Cornwall and Lake District routes operate from Friday to Monday, while the Wales route runs from Monday to Thursday.

Setting a new benchmark in luxury design, the renowned London-based studio, Albion Nord, claims to have crafted serenely elegant interiors with a distinct British charm unique to the train. Merging a colour palette inspired by the breathtaking natural world visible through the expansive picture-windows, with heritage motifs and playful details, the resulting environment is both tranquil and vibrant.

Belmond claims that each of the 18 cabins on board the Britannic Explorer exudes sophistication while prioritising comfort. With three Grand Suites and 15 Suites all carefully assembled within the UK, travellers are promised an exceptionally unique journey that is just as unforgettable as the destination itself.

Crafted with inspiration from the dramatic vistas of Britain’s coastlines and pastoral landscapes, every detail aims to captivate, ensuring guests feel at ease whether in their private cabin, unwinding in the spa, or enjoying the delights of the bar and dining cars.

Gary Franklin, Belmond’s vice president of Trains and Cruises, expressed his enthusiasm: “I am incredibly proud to launch this revolutionary new train, which further enhances Belmond’s global portfolio of market-leading luxury rail experiences. The Britannic Explorer offers something truly unique; an opportunity to discover the rugged Cornish coastline to Snowdonia’s untamed National Park and the vast expanses of the Lake District like never before.”
