Part 3 of the Evolution of Kempton Park series shows more stark differences in Google Maps images from 2009/2010 and the most recent ones.
This feature series has reached further than we ever thought possible and today we bring you the penultimate edition of our Evolution of Kempton Park series.
Through this series, we compare the most recent images available on Google Maps Streetview to show what several areas looked like in 2009/2010 and what they look like now.
In case you missed our previous features in this series:
We’ve had an overwhelming response from readers who sent in suggestions for the areas that they would like to see featured in this series.
Here are a few of the suggestions sent to [email protected]
We start this week’s tour in the Kempton Park CBD on Central Avenue.
We were also asked to take a look at West Street in the CBD.
Our next request came in for Firefly Street in Rhodesfield.
Then, we had several requests for Oak Avenue in the Kempton Park CBD.
Marauder Street was once again on our list of requests from readers.
We also received several requests for Spoorlyn Road.
Then we wanted to again see how a few of our Kempton Park landmarks have fared over the years.
First up, is the Kempton Park Civic Centre with a comparison between 2010 and 2023.
Our next stop was outside the Kempton Park Regional and Magistrates courts.
Our last stop for this week’s Streetview tour is Kelvin Street, comparing 2009 and 2022.
To try something different for another request we received we logged into Google Earth Pro to do an aerial overview of the Kempton Park Hospital.
The first images available were taken in 2002 and the latest available was taken by satellite this year (2024).
Next week, in the final part of this incredible series, we will include a video showing Kempton Park Hospital over the last 22 years so be sure not to miss it.
