DAR ES SALAAM: SIMBA Head Coach, Fadlu Davids has commended his charges for their exciting performance, but insisted there is still work to be done despite a commanding 4-0 victory against Kinondoni Municipal Council (KMC) at the KMC Complex in Dar es Salaam on Wednesday.
Coach Davids made the remarks during a post-match interview, where he highlighted that the second half of the game was better than the first. He noted that his team created several opportunities that could have been converted into goals but failed to capitalise on them.
He expressed disappointment, pointing out that they could have scored three or four goals in the first half. He noted that if they had taken advantage of their chances they could have ended the first half with a significantly higher score.
“We could have scored three or four goals in the first half, which is disappointing. I commend the players for adjusting to our structure after halftime, but we need to work on maintaining that intensity throughout the entire game. “We are making progress, but we need to be more consistent. If we maintain this performance, then I will be satisfied. I want to build a team where each player has the opportunity to demonstrate their talent and ability, and where healthy competition within the squad drives everyone to improve. “It is about building a winning culture and supporting one another. Players need to push themselves to their limits and when their teammates are on the field, they must support them fully. We will take some time off for the players to refresh and then we will begin preparing for the upcoming Champions League matches,” he concluded.
KMC Head Coach, Abdihamid Moalin, shared his thoughts on his team’s performance following their disappointing loss, pointing out the mistakes made during the first half.
“We started the game slowly and did not apply our game plan effectively, which led to giving away unnecessary goals. The rhythm wasn’t there in the first half; we improved a bit later but did not make enough forward movements from our attacking players. “I keep repeating myself about these mistakes, but all I can do is to continue to help my players improve and push the team forward. It was another tough day at the office. When we attack, the other team is less able to attack us. If we believe in ourselves and maintain our tempo, we can appear as a strong team and pose threats. However, when we fall back and defend too deeply, it goes against our game plan. “We will accept the loss, take a few days off and then return to training. After this game, we will analyse what went wrong and continue working hard. We have more matches ahead and we need to stay focused,” he concluded.
In the current standings, Simba have accumulated 25 points from 10 matches, winning eight, drawing one, and losing one. In contrast, KMC have 14 points from 11 matches, with five losses and four draws.
