Kakamega North police recently apprehended Jackson Mwangi Wangechi, 38, following an intensive search for the suspected violent robber. The arrest took place at Season’s Club in Malava Township, where officers recovered various weapons and crime-related equipment at Wangechi’s residence, along with evidence linking him to recent felonies. Among the confiscated items were imitation pistols, rubber bullets, stolen phones, military gear, and lock-breaking tools.
In a coordinated operation, officers also searched two additional hideouts belonging to Wangechi, uncovering more weapons, including machetes, swords, and handcuff keys inside his Mazda Demio. Authorities suspect Wangechi used these tools to plan and execute break-ins and robberies across the region.
Police spokespersons say the arrest marks a significant breakthrough in tackling violent crime in Kakamega and warn that investigations are underway to determine if Wangechi had accomplices. The police urge the public to report any suspicious activities to help keep communities safe.
Wangechi remains in custody while further investigations proceed, and he is expected to face charges related to violent robbery and illegal possession of weapons. The arrest has reassured local residents, who have been on high alert due to recent robbery incidents. Law enforcement officials have reiterated their commitment to rooting out crime networks and ensuring public safety in the region.
