School Sacking Female Teacher at Husband’s Request Initiates Online Discussion

On the request of her husband, a Nigerian school’s female teacher was fired with effect from October 31, 2024. She was told in the dismissal letter, which was signed by the director of the school, to turn over all school property by October 28 in order to leave.

Online discussion has been triggered by the peculiar rationale for her termination, with many internet users expressing shock and denouncing the choice. One of the teachers at Ibitamumo School was fired by Graced-One Nigeria Limited at her husband’s request.

In a letter posted on Facebook on October 22, 2024, and signed by the director of the school, the assistant teacher was dismissed with effect from October 31, 2024.

This letter serves as notice that, as of October 31, 2024, your employment with Graced-one Nig Ltd (Ibitamuno Schools) has been terminated. Part of the letter states, “This is based on your husband’s request.”

Then, by the 28th of the same month, she had to turn over the school’s property to her supervisor. The letter further states that in order for you to get your check from the monitor, “you are advised to hand over Rais properties in your possession as an assistant to your teacher or supervisor on or before October 25, 2024.”

The explanation for firing the female teacher sparked intense online responses, with the majority of people expressing shock that such a thing could ever happen in this day and age.

Nancy Biddle: “It’s really unsettling. It makes me think of a storyline from “Not Without My Children.” When considering marriage to a Naija man, I make notes.

Actually, it scares me. Bebi Precious: “Hey. her woman should be aware that her action will result in a very delicious lawsuit. Millions of dollars in compensation. To pay her, sell the school. Choi. Look for damages with sweet money.

“Enemy of progress, these are the type that cannot allow you to grow,” said Ayoola Fedunshoo. Obadare Adenike: “First of all, is this a typical organization?

Does he own stock in their business, or is he the man they hired? I informed my Nanny’s husband that I would have him imprisoned if he attempted to come to my house and shame her.

He is not my employee nor a guarantee for the one I hired; she is an adult, and they ought to handle their issues at home.” “This is really serious,” said Ibrahim Mustafa.

It would seem to me that it is a fallacy if you hadn’t posted it. Ozioma Okoro says, “All I see in this situation is a woman who is going through domestic violence at home, and whom the school/ job has failed to protect.”

Adesola Josephine: “This is a really intriguing situation, and the woman in question ought to sue the husband and the business. They had violated her rights…. The anomaly in all of them can only be restored by a qualified court of law.
