A Daystar University graduate has touched hearts by inviting a local mama mboga (vegetable seller) to his master’s graduation ceremony as a gesture of gratitude for her unwavering support throughout his studies.
The student, known as Beyond Image on TikTok, shared that his mother could not attend the graduation, so he decided to honor Mama Ibrah, a woman who has provided him with daily meals since he began his academic journey.
In a moving TikTok video, the student is seen approaching Mama Ibrah’s shop, holding an invitation card for her. Upon receiving the invitation, the emotional mama mboga joyfully expresses her happiness, dancing in gratitude.
“I may not have my mum with me today, but my guest for the graduation is Mama Ibrah, who has fed me daily,” he said in the video. He added that Mama Ibrah has supported many students, ensuring they never went to bed hungry.
