After a period of silence, the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) issued a new order to landlords residing in various local and regional regions.
According to the legislation, all landlords who make between Ksh280,000 and Ksh15 million a month must give the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) a specific percentage of their rental income.
On November 8, 2024, a press statement was issued announcing this directive. The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) disclosed that landlords are required to pay a fixed percentage of 7.5% of the whole gross rent income to KRA, which is an overview of the full percentage that landlords receiving the aforementioned monthly rental income must pay.
Tenants may be impacted by a guideline that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has sent to landlords. Landlords may raise rent in order to comply with the decree, which mandates that they pay the authority 7.5 percent of their gross rent income.
