Estevao Willian appeared impressed by his future Chelsea team-mates after their midweek victory over FC Noah.

The Brazilian wonderkid, who has been dubbed ‘Messinho’, will join the London club in 2025 in a £29million move from Palmeiras, with the fee potentially reaching £56m including add-ons. He has already caught the eye in his homeland, but fill face plenty of competition at Stamford Bridge.

Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku both scored twice in the 8-0 victory over Noah, which sent Enzo Maresca’s team top of the UEFA Conference League table. Tosin Adarabiayo, Marc Guiu, Axel Disasi and Mykhailo Mudryk were also on target as Chelsea set a new record for the biggest ever win in the competition.

Estevao Willian’s response on social media was straightforward but left fans in no doubt over what it meant. He posted a blue heart and a ‘top’ emoji to mark the team remaining at the summit in Europe.

Chelsea vs Noah was regarded as a likely mismatch before kick-off, and so it proved. It was already 6-0 by half-time, with Nkunku adding two more in the final half-hour.

The previous record winning margin stood at six goals. Three teams jointly held that record, with Nordsjaelland beating Ludogorets 7-1 in the second gameweek last season and Fiorentina and Eintracht Frankfurt recording 6-0 wins on the same day in October 2023.

Curiously, Nordsjaelland still finished below Ludogorets despite their dominant win last term. That’s unlikely to happen to Chelsea and Noah, though, with the Premier League side now on nine points to their rivals’ three.

Chelsea manager Maresca made a number of changes from the Blues’ last Premier League game. Tyrique George was handed a full debut against Noah, while Sam Rak-Sakyi made his first senior appearance for the club late on, and the boss was impressed by the youngsters.

“Tyrique was very good,” Maresca said after the win. “I said before the game probably with young players sometimes it’s better to tell them the day before so they can prepare, but with some it’s better to tell them at the end so they don’t get nervous.

“We knew already Tyrique was going to start, so I just told him two hours before the game. He was very good. Also Sam Rak-Sakyi when he was inside was good, and I’m very happy for Marc Guiu that he scored. He hasn’t got many minutes with us this season, but he’s working hard. They are all 17,18, 19, it’s important.”

Chelsea’s one remaining match before the international break comes against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday. They are next in Conference League action on November 28, travelling to Germany to face a Heidenheim side with three wins from three so far.
