CLARK FREEPORT, Philippines – The Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) announced on Thursday, November 7, that it will accelerate the implementation of infrastructure projects for the Clark Aviation Capital.
In a statement, CIAC said the initial infrastructure projects are expected to be completed between 2025 and 2028. These projects are part of an urban renewal and heritage development program, which includes creating open spaces, parks, and a riverside area designed to preserve the natural environment, protect the ecosystem, and support renewable energy initiatives such as solar power.
CIAC President Jojit Alcazar described the 2,367-hectare Clark Aviation Capital as “distinctly viable and marketable” and emphasized the need for swift development to ensure a steady flow of government revenue that will contribute to the nation’s economy.
“The CIAC immediately needs the detailed architectural and engineering design of road networks, the improvement of sites such as the upgrading of street lights in major avenues, picnic grounds, parks and open spaces which will entice investors especially aviation, cargo and logistics, and commercial enterprises,” Alcazar said.
In September, CIAC transitioned from a real estate manager to a land developer and became the aviation-focused investment arm of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA). The Department of Transportation (DOTr) provides operational oversight for CIAC, which is tasked with overseeing the governance of Clark International Airport.
The planned development includes eight flagship projects designed to align BCDA and DOTr’s interests in transforming CIAC areas into hubs for logistics, commercial activities, and aviation-related industries.
Alcazar also said CIAC will strengthen aviation infrastructure and services with the goal of making the Clark Aviation Capital an industry leader.
He said a logistics hub that supports national food security through efficient transportation and distribution will also be developed to position the Clark Aviation Capital as a premier destination for meetings, incentives, conferences, and exhibitions to showcase the local culture and hospitality on an international stage.
“In terms of commerce, we’ll create spaces that will drive trade, business, and economic growth, which go together with sustainable urban development that will build a thriving, eco-conscious community around Clark,” he said. – Rappler.com
