Ex-Girlfriend Sues Her Ex-Boyfriend Demanding $100 Per Month, Over Significant Emotional And Physical Distress During Relationship
A woman from Harare, Shamiso Zuze, is demanding US$100 per month from her ex-boyfriend, Givemore Gonye, claiming that their two-year relationship caused her significant emotional and physical distress.
Zuze presented the case to the Harare Civil Court, alleging that Gonye’s actions, including infidelity and disrespect, justify her request for financial compensation.
In her court statement, Zuze described how Gonye often disrespected her by bringing other women to their home, leading to several confrontations. She recalled one incident where she allegedly caught him with another woman, which led to a physical altercation.
“He regularly brought different women to my house… he disrespected me, and I deserve compensation for the pain,” Zuze stated.
In response, Gonye denied the allegations, claiming that Zuze had been financially reliant on him and made unreasonable demands.
He also accused her of blocking his attempts to end the relationship and making false accusations about his infidelity.
“She told me I was her only source of income,” he said, adding that she refused to end the relationship due to the financial support he provided.
After hearing both sides, Magistrate Judith Taruvinga issued a peace order, instructing both parties to avoid further confrontations and maintain peace.
