    Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory Technologist

    Summary of Position

    • The Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for managing its Petroleum Chemistry laboratory as may be requested by the Dean.
    • The candidate shall contribute to keeping the Laboratory safe, maintaining and managing its equipment for students and faculty use. 
    • She/he will work closely with the Dean and Chair of the department in guiding students through laboratory experience in line with the development philosophy of the American University of Nigeria.

    Detailed Listing of Responsibilities

    • Manage and maintain Laboratory inventory
    • Control and Manage the use of Laboratory equipment by students, Faculty and Staff.
    • Promote a good atmosphere, cleanliness and excellent laboratory environment for use.
    • Lead and take visitors on a tour of the Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory.
    • Be part of other committees aimed at promoting Petroleum Chemistry Laboratory development, staff welfare etc.
    • Contribute to AUN’s community service and development.
    • Other duties as assigned by the Department chair/Dean.

    Requirements for the position

    • HND / BSc in Petroleum Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. 
    • 2 – 3 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably in petroleum chemistry or a related industry.
    • Relevant certification in laboratory technology is a plus.

    Other requirements, abilities for the position:

    • Experience in problem centered approach to learning.
    • Experience in safety, managing students and laboratory equipment.
    • Proficient in the use and maintenance of laboratory equipment, especially those specific to petroleum chemistry.
    • Knowledge of chemical safety protocols and experience with laboratory safety standards.
    • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage laboratory operations effectively.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, and other stakeholders.

    Public Health Laboratory Technologist

    Summary of Position

    • The Public Health Laboratory Technologist will be responsible for managing its Public Health laboratory and Museum as may be requested by the Dean.
    • The candidate shall contribute to keeping the Laboratory/museum safe, maintaining and managing its equipment for students use. 
    • S/he will work closely with the Dean and Chair of Public Health in guiding students through laboratory experience in line with the development philosophy of the American University of Nigeria.

    • Maintain safety of the Laboratory equipment
    • Manage and maintain Laboratory inventory
    • Control and Manage the use of Laboratory equipment by students, Faculty and Staff.

    Requirements for the position

    • HND/BSc in Medical Laboratory Science, Microbiology, Biochemistry, or a related discipline.
    • Certification or licensure from the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) or equivalent is a plus.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a laboratory setting, preferably with a focus on public health.
    • Experience in academic or research-oriented laboratories is an asset.

    • Good communication skills
    • Good command of English Language.
    • Experience in the use of basic computer skills like Microsoft office documents.

    Associate / Assistant Professor of Nursing

    Summary of Position

    • The Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing will be responsible for teaching and supporting students learning both inside and outside the classroom.
    • She/He shall work closely with the Departmental Chair and Dean of the school in formulating and implementing course structure that would translate to effective teaching and learning in the AUN School of Arts and Sciences and also engage students with other resource assignments in accordance with policies and procedures of the American University of Nigeria. 

    Detailed Listing of Responsibilities

    • Teaching: The primary responsibility of a faculty member is for teaching and for supporting student learning both inside and outside the classroom.
    • Class Attendance: Faculty members should make clear that students are expected to attend class and complete required assignments.
    • Academic Advising: Shall advise students and also be available to assist students throughout the semester.
    • Department/Schools Meetings: Attending meetings on a regular basis and as necessary to facilitate communication and to accomplish the work required for the smooth operation of the department and school.
    • Attendance at Academic Functions: Full-time faculty members are expected to attend meetings of the faculty and any all-college meetings called by AUN administration.
    • Research: Faculty members are to engage in research activities that will promote self-development and the University
    • Community Service: Faculty are to contribute to AUN community service and development activities

    • Proven ability to lead and manage the department or other committee in the university.
    • At least five (5) years of teaching and research experience garnered at a reputable University
    • Must possess verifiable evidence of scholarly publications in reputable conferences and journals
    • Knowledge of the principles, practices and theories of classroom and teaching
    • Should be proficient in use of ICT/online tools and e-resources for teaching and research.
