Escape to the Chateau stars Angel Adoree and Dick Strawbridge reflected on an emotional moment during a recent visit to the UK.
Angel Adoree was left “sobbing” as she reflected on an emotional moment from her UK visit.
The 46-year-old and her husband Dick Strawbridge starred in the TV series Escape to the Chateau from 2016 to 2022. The show followed the couple and their family as they renovated a 19th-century French château, while also raising two children and starting a business.
Despite the Channel 4 reality show ending and living in France, the couple often return to the UK and are currently on a tour of the country. In a recent episode of their podcast, Dick and Angel’s Chat… Eau, the TV stars opened up about reuniting with their extended family when they returned to the UK.
“It was interesting because having had everybody in the dressing room beforehand, we have a quiet sort of interval didn’t we?” Dick, 65, recalled.
Angel responded: “Yeah we did, and that’s a first. Considering we were in the hometown, it was unheard of.
“But I think the thing was to get everyone backstage, by the time they would have been there for halftime, they would have been straight back again.”
“It was interesting. So, mum was there and you know what, I just loved that I could see her,” the former army officer said. “I could see her smiling, surrounded by people she knew.”
Angel replied: “Yeah, your mum had that sparkle in her eyes and you and your mum having a little drink together – oh, it made me cry!”
She went on: “Literally, I was sobbing and I had all the makeup on. We had some lovely photographs together, lovely memories. Arthur was busy just getting everyone a drink. It was one of the memories that I just think will be one of the stand-out memories.”
It comes after the couple shared some exciting baby news, revealing they are “totally invested” in adorable great niece Heidi.
“She’s a beautiful little baby girl,” Dick gushed. “If you’ve listened to the other podcasts, we did the baby shower for them.”
Adoree added: “We’ve been really invested and probably no one more so than our little Dorothy!” Adoree noted.
Dick went on: “Dorothy has been excited, I think we couldn’t have stayed any longer – we’d need to be back in the car with suitcases.”
He added: “Dorothy and Sarah speak quite a lot on the phone, they have little phone calls. So Dorothy’s seen Heidi most days.”
