12th Fail inspiration IPS Manoj Kumar’s mother complains to Amitabh Bachchan: ‘He is never home for Diwali’
In the latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati, 12th Fail fame IPS Manoj Kumar will be seen along with Vikrant Massey.
On Friday, Vikrant Massey, along with IPS officer Dr Manoj Kumar will join Amitabh Bachchan on the sets of popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati to promote his film The Sabarmati Report. In the show, the actor reveals how despite being in the showbiz for 20 years, this is his first meeting with the star. Manoj also shared his memories of the show and challenges of being a police officer.
In the show, both Manoj and Vikrant can be seen expressing gratitude for the opportunity of meeting the legendary star. Recalling his memories with KBC, Manoj told Amitabh Bachchan, “I never imagined that this show would be so beneficial for students preparing for the UPSC. We used to stand at the pan shop or roadside eateries, waiting for 9 PM to prepare for the UPSC through the show. There were times when we felt like our preparation was complete. But as soon as you started asking questions, we realized our preparation was far from enough. Until then, general knowledge wasn’t prioritised much in schools.”
He added, “What KBC did was make teachers and parents realize the importance of general knowledge and the need to teach it to children. I consider myself very fortunate to be sitting in front of you today!”
In the same episode, Manoj also revealed the challenges of being an IPS officer when his mother complained to the star that he never visits home for festivals. Talking to Amitabh Bachchan, Manoj said, “Sir, police cannot celebrate festivals. Till date, I haven’t celebrated a single Diwali. Once you wear khakhee then you don’t have a religion or caste, you dedicate your whole life to the country as a policeman.”
He added, police officer don’t have any fixed shifts either. Sometimes they work for an entire day and sometimes even for three days straight.
In the same episode, Vikrant shared that in 20 years of his career, this was the first time he has met Big B. He said, “Sitting on this hot seat and meeting you in person is a huge moment for me. I’ve worked in cinema for 12-13 years and spent 8 years in television. In my nearly 20-year career, this is the first time I’ve had the chance to meet you in person.”
To this, Amitabh Bachchan warmly replied, “It feels like we’ve met many times before. Watching your performances, it feels like you’re one of us, like family.”
Kaun Banega Crorepati season 16 premieres on Sony Entertainment Television at 9 pm.
