Ford debuted a wide variety of concepts at this year’s Specialty Equipment and Marketing Association show, or SEMA, and among them is a completely customized 1969 F-100 restomod by Solomon Lunger, called “Clyde.” Based on an early Ford F-100 truck, or one of the popular predecessor’s to today’s F-150, it not only shows what’s possible in the world of restomodding, but it also proves that Ford Performance Parts and Accessories cares just as much about supporting its older, classic vehicles, as it does new ones.
It’s a one-off build featuring some of the latest and greatest parts Ford fans can get for some of its older vehicles, all of which come with a brand-spankin’ new warranty, so there’s no fear of getting an aged new-old-stock part that might have questionable performance or reliability from sitting on the shelf too long. It is also another example and interpretation of what a modern classic and restomod can be with careful selection of the right parts.

Built By One Of The Biggest Names In Truck Modding
Solomon Lunger is no mystery figure in the world of aftermarket truck modding, especially when it comes to restoring old F-Series trucks. So it’s unsurprising that his latest SEMA build is based on a 1969 F-100. It may look like a very exquisitely restored F-100, but it goes far beyond that.
Clyde features a fully custom-fabricated body made entirely of carbon fiber, as it weighs a bunch less than the original steel. Replacing its old, archaic inline-six (or V-8) is a factory-fresh high-performance 5.2-liter Carnivore Raptor-R V-8 crate engine treated with a massive 3.8-liter Whipple supercharger and JC Custom CNC valve covers, which is all mated to a heavy-duty Tremec six-speed manual, a Wizard high-flow cooling radiator, and a high-performance fuel system supported by a Boyd Welding fuel tank. Performance treatments also include a Vibrant Performance titanium exhaust and a a Vapor Trapper Billet charcoal canister.
As such, total output figures register at “more than” 900 horsepower and 700 pound-feet of torque. Helping to curtail that power is a set of six-piston Baer brakes front and rear, an E-Stopp electric emergency brake system, Billet X Master and Carbon X brake master cylinder and booster upgrades by Master Power Brakes.
Other chassis and suspension mods, which enables Clyde’s low-to-the-ground stance, includes a custom Porterbuilt Stage 2 coilover air suspension kit from Fat Fender Garage, a special steering column by IDIDIT, a rack-and-pinion system by Flaming River, bespoke forged custom Solos MFG 19-inch front and 20-inch rear wheels wrapped in Mickey Thompson tires, a fully leather-lined interior, and an exterior theme that includes exposed carbon fiber body panels from Brothers Carbon. Other exterior mods include Tin Knockers custom sheetmetal for places not utilizing carbon fiber, a Golden Star Classic Auto bed, Auto Metal Direct glass, Dapper LED lighting, and Ringbrothers custom side-view mirrors.
