Some West Ham United fans are seemingly up in arms about the prospect of losing one of our men to Arsenal.

It has been all change at West Ham over the past six months, and Arsenal could be in for much of the same over the next few months.

Julen Lopetegui took over as the new Hammers head coach officially on July 1st, and it has been a very bumpy road for us ever since.

The Spaniard’s job is already at risk, and it seems to me like we’ve regressed as a team, as hard as that might be to believe.

The new signings have failed to gel together yet, and it seems like Lopetegui doesn’t have any clear plan to make things better.

Meanwhile, Arsenal’s start to the 2024/25 season has been underwhelming as well, with big change coming at the Emirates.

One West Ham man is said to be on their radar to replace one of their soon-to-be outgoing key figures.

There’s no need to fret though Hammers fans.

Arsenal are welcome to West Ham man Tim Steidten

Hammers director of football Tim Steidten has split opinion since arriving at the London Stadium 16 months ago.

It has actually been claimed that some of his signings have caused friction between him and Lopetegui behind the scenes.

Some West Ham fans love him because of his ‘private jet picture antics’, whilst others think he’s far too involved with the every day goings on at the club.

I’m somewhere in the middle, but I must admit, I think he’s in no way indispensable.

And it seems like there is a chance he could be on his way soon.

It was first reported right here on Hammers News that Arsenal could swoop in for Tim Steidten as a replacement for Edu.

And then The Telegraph followed up on that, claiming that the German is viewed as a potential target for the Gunners.

I’ve seen a lot of Hammers fans on social media up in arms over this and I have to ask, why?

What has Steidten actually done for us since he was named as the club’s director of football in July 2023?

Has he brought any undiscovered gems to the club yet? The jury is still out on Luis Guilherme, but the answer to that question is a resounding no.

Let’s take a look at his signings shall we…

Steidten’s questionable West Ham record

In the summer of 2023, he was responsible for the arrivals of Konstantinos Mavropanos, Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus.

Then in 2024, he was the driving force behind seven of the nine new signings, with Crysencio Summerville a David Sullivan choice and Guido Rodriguez pushed forward by Lopetegui.

The only outstanding success out of those new signings made by Steidten is Kudus. However, let’s be real here, he was hardly an unbelievable find was he!

Everyone knew the Ghanaian was top drawer – even I could have suggested him to Sullivan!

Sure, the likes of Max Kilman, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jean-Clair Todibo may well come good in time.

However, there is no evidence to suggest yet that Tim Steidten has been anything other than an abject failure at West Ham.

The German certainly hasn’t made signings like he did at Bayer Leverkusen, and by that I mean discovering talented players BEFORE they become stars.

I have to say, I’m not keen about the way the 45-year-old made the summer window all about him, and was constantly seen in the tunnel before games talking to players earlier on in the season.

He hasn’t been seen much recently has he? Funny that…

If Arsenal want Tim Steidten, they can have him as far as I’m concerned. I would be much more concerned about losing Mohammed Kudus to the Gunners, that’s for sure!

The bottom line is that I can’t see Arsenal moving for him anyway.
