A player who has already been linked with Liverpool this season recently sent another transfer message to Arne Slot with another sumptuous goal for his side
A forward touted as a replacement for Mohamed Salah is making Erling Haaland’s current stats seem ordinary. Omar Marmoush is having an exceptional season with Bundesliga heavyweights Eintracht Frankfurt.
The 25-year-old has already been pinpointed as a possible replacement for the Liverpool talisman, whose future at Anfield is uncertain, with his contract set to expire next season. Marmoush, who is also Egyptian, sent another strong signal to his admirers when he curled in a flawless free-kick off the underside of the crossbar, securing a 1-0 Europa League win against Slavia Prague on Thursday night.
He also earned the praise of Bayern Munich manager Vincent Kompany, who described his performance against the Bundesliga titans last month as “not normal”. As well as his displays, his numbers have been so good that they’re overshadowing what Haaland is producing at Manchester City.
Marmoush has racked up 13 goals and nine assists in 15 appearances across all competitions. On the other hand, Haaland has scored 14 goals in 15 appearances in all competitions but hasn’t provided any assists.
When it comes to goal contributions, Marmoush is leading the Norwegian by eight goals. It’s an astonishing figure that perfectly illustrates why he’s already being linked with a move to Anfield.
His stats also surpass those of the man he could potentially replace. So far, Salah has notched up nine goals and nine assists in 16 appearances for Slot’s team.
Marmoush’s recent goal against Bayern Munich, which saw him power past multiple defenders before finding the far corner with his finish, garnered huge praise from Kompany. After the 3-3 draw against the Bavarians, where Marmoush contributed two goals and an assist, the Manchester City legend said: ” Marmoush is a player who’s only going to get better with time.
“What he did for [Hugo] Ekitike’s goal is not normal. To push past Upa [Dayot Upamecano] with strength, no one did that before for the whole season. And then to make the right decision at the end, the quality in his strike, and the speed. Sometimes he looks quite relaxed, then when he gets going, he’s really fast.”

Salah has, once again, been invaluable to the Reds, who are top of the Premier League and the Champions League tables. But Arne Slot admits he has next to no control on where Salah could be next year. The Dutchman said: “[His future] is not what I think about.
“The only thing I think about is he is so important for us. Scores important goals, works hard for the team. I’m hoping he can enjoy that feeling many, many, many more times. Especially if I’m here but also if I’m not here. I’m hoping he can do this many more times.
“He’s been incredible for Liverpool over the past eight years. He’s been incredible for us this season and I hope he can continue doing this for the rest of the season and maybe longer to come, but that’s up to him and the club to decide about the future.”
